Ekadashi Fasting Rules (Gita Press Ekadashi Mahatmya)

  • Dashami Evening: Avoid grains and heavy meals after sunset on Dashami.
  • Ekadashi Fast: Observe either complete waterless fast (Nirjala) or take fruits, milk, and water (Phalahari). Avoid rice and all grains strictly.
  • Dvadashi Parana: Break the fast after sunrise during Dvadashi tithi. Breaking the fast during Hari Vasara (first quarter of Dvadashi) is prohibited.
